Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
